IDAHO
Karen Hills - I was bit by a tick in Texas in 1999 and it was
diagnosed as a spider bite. Then later as possibly fybromyalgia or
Chronic Fatigue Syndrom. No one tested me for lyme as I never saw
what bit me but it made a bulls eye rash. I was getting more absent
minded as the years past. Three years after the bite I fortunately
had a concussion after a total car wreck that lead me to see a Dr
and get an MRI. Oh, looked like I had LYME or MS. After seeing a MS
specialist in Spokane who was from back East, he told me he thought
I had LYME and tested me for it. My tests came back positive! I was
given one month of IV antibiotic and told to come back. Well as we
Lymies do, I forgot my appointment and that I was supposed to go
back! I continued to get worse and while visiting relatives again in
Texas I went back to the DR there and told them they needed to start
testing their patients for LYME to determine the type of bite
instead of just guessing it was a spider! While there I searched the
net and found a Lyme net sight and emailed the contact in Houston.
We talked by phone and she sent me many resources and referral names
and recommendations. Dr. C in MO was one who stood out for me as
being very interested in researching this disease and learning and
teaching others about it. I made an appointment and flew to see him
in Feb. 2006, By this time, I had short term memory problems and my
body did not feel interested in doing any activities and aches
seemed to travel around and vary in degree of discomfort and
downright PAIN. After 6 months on the supplements he suggested as
well as 6 months of various antibiotics, I am now interested in life
again. I enjoy my gardening, going out to lunch with the gals,
palates, exercise, golf and I am interested in painting again! I
told the Dr. in a recent follow up that I felt like I had my body
back again and now needed to get back my mind! I still have short
term memory loss that result in my having to ask others for help
often and for patience when I keep forgetting my appointments. I do
HIGHLY recommend my Dr. Before he treated me, I felt like I had just
dropped through the cracks of the medical society and had almost
given up living like my old self again. Now, I have HOPE again and
can see and feel the difference in only 6 months. I urge all others
with possible Lyme to keep researching on their own and check out
experiences shared on the Lyme net. I also recommend the treatment I
have received. It is working great so far!
