NEW MEXICO

Diane J. Marie - Hello Everyone! April 2004, I suddenly got Bell's palsy, severe muscle pain on my right side, arthritis on my right side and many other signs and symptoms. However, in July I got severe head pain 24 hours a day 7 days a week and have been like that ever since. I have memory problems (like word recall,) multitasking (because of it I couldn't use a cane, and so forth. I got a bullseye rash 13-1/2 years ago with apparently no symptoms until April 2004. However, I did had undiagnosed severe hypothyroidism. I believe fully that that is why Lyme suddenly proliferated. I've been taking antibiotics (IV and LA Bicillin for a year.) When I figured out what I had the VA refused to diagnose and treat Lyme disease. Before that I'd gotten Medicaid and signed-on for Pres SALUD. A doctor in Pres administration (formerly a rheumatologist) knows about Lyme--Dr. R. and he got me Dr. B as my consulting Lyme doc (by phone) Pres paid for home health care (IV Rocephen) and LA Bicillin. However, someone yanked me off Medicarid and put me on Medicare and didn't tell me until a couple months later. I Turned my Medicare into Pres Medicare PPO Plan 2 and now I can see my new Lyme doc and continue LA Bicillin, metronadizole, etc. We're also working on my immune system-tring to get it to work better.
I am termed "homeless" and I live at the New Mexico Veterans Integration Center.

In the interest of making the stories palatable for everyone, please spell-check your submissions, and substitute a word like "antibiotic(s)" or abx for drug names. This site is foremost about telling the story of our disease and problems with diagnosis, treatment, etc. Please refrain from listing every drug and/or dosage you have been on. We have all been through a unique experience and that is the focus of this page. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
